Age distribution of private sector deferred scheme members

FOI reference - FOI-5659
Date - 3 March 2021

Request

I wondered if TPR happened to have data on the age distribution of private sector DB scheme members, ideally split by actives and deferreds, and ideally separately for men and women?

Response

Following further correspondence with you, we have modified our response to focus on deferred members (as opposed to active and deferred members).

I can confirm that we hold some information falling within scope of your request. However, we are unable to supply some of the information requested for the reason set out below.

Information we are able to supply

Please see the attached spreadsheet on which tabs 1 and 2 provide the following table and charts. The first tab shows these weighted by DB members, while the second tab is and unweighted.

  • Table: Cumulative distribution of the age of deferred members (DB/Hybrid schemes);
  • Chart: Distribution of the age of deferred members (DB/Hybrid schemes 2012 - 2020); and
  • Chart: Distribution of the age of deferred members (DB/Hybrid schemes 2012 - 2020). Age data trimmed to 40 - 65 years.

Information we are unable to supply

We do not hold data that would enable us to split the age distribution of private sector DB schemes by reference to gender.
